About Cindy
For over four decades, I have been captivated by the magic of watercolor—watching as colors and light flow together in an organic dance, each stroke revealing something new and beautiful. My journey as an artist began in high school when my father encouraged me to take a formal art class instead of spending my time in study hall. It was there that I discovered my passion for watercolor painting, beginning a lifelong artistic path that has been largely self-taught through years of practice, exploration, and experimentation.
Watercolor remains at the heart of my work, and I am especially drawn to the ever-changing movement of water, dramatic skies, and the quiet beauty found in nature. Recently, I have developed a strong focus on dark sky watercolor paintings, exploring the mystery, mood, and light found in evening landscapes and night scenes. Capturing the contrast between darkness and illumination continues to inspire and challenge me creatively.
While watercolor is my primary medium, I also enjoy working as a mixed-media artist, combining watercolor with torn paper, collage elements, pen and ink, and acrylics to create texture, depth, and movement within my pieces. This layered approach allows me to experiment freely and brings an added sense of storytelling and emotion to my artwork. The tactile nature of torn paper and collage has opened up exciting new creative possibilities and encouraged me to slow down, trust the process, and embrace spontaneity.
My artistic interests are wide-ranging—from nature and landscapes to expressive figurative work. In recent years, I have also ventured into children’s book illustration, adapting my techniques to create whimsical, expressive imagery that connects with young readers. Whether working in watercolor, collage, or illustration, my goal is always to create art that evokes feeling, curiosity, and a sense of wonder.
